Turning Self-Awareness into Action

Many people have a strong understanding of their own patterns. They know when they are overthinking, avoiding certain conversations or taking on too much.

What is less straightforward is turning that awareness into change.

General intentions such as wanting to be more confident or set better boundaries can be difficult to act on because they are too broad. Progress tends to come from identifying something specific and manageable that can be done differently.

For example, contributing earlier in a meeting rather than waiting, or pausing before accepting additional work to check capacity. These are small actions, but they are clear and observable.

Trying something different in this way creates an opportunity to learn from the outcome. It also builds confidence, as you begin to see that change is possible in practice.

If you are aware of a pattern you would like to shift, it can be helpful to ask: what would this look like in a real situation, this week? Those small changes have a way of building momentum.
